I know that the world we live in can be very horrific at times 

I know that there are evil people in this world who have no conscience 
but i also know that the world is full of people who will help others
without any thought of reward

I know there are people in this world
who would do this because they know it is the right thing to do

I know that there are people in this world
who would stop wars at any cost to themselves if they could 
because they understand that wars are wasteful and futile and it is allways innocents that pay the greatest price.

I know there are people in this world
who would banish hate and bigotry at any cost to themselves if they could
because they understand that hate and bigotry allways hurt those who are least able to defend themselves most

i know that there are people in this world 
who may not have been through what you are going through in your life
but i know that they can still feel your pain and can understand why you hurt.

I know that there are people in this world
who want nothing more than for you to not feel that pain anymore
I know that there are people in this world 
who would lift you up and out of harms way 
I know that they would hold you and make everything ok if they could

I know there are people in this world  
who would wipe your tears and bathe your wounds

I know there are people in this world 
who would give you what you need of their own 
so that you were not hungry or thirsty or cold anymore

i know that there are people in this world 
who would risk looking like a fool just to make you smile or laugh or feel friendship and understanding

i know there are people in this world 
who would  unselfishly swap your pain for all their comfort in a heartbeat
just so you had some time without even so much as the memory of that pain.
I know there are people in this world 

who would listen to what you have to say
because they know it is valid and true and you need to just tell someone.


i know there are people like this

because i am one of them 

of all these things that i do truly know 

I know most of all

That i am not the only one like me

I know there are people in this world
who feel the same as me.

i wrote this after seeing our friend bridget today and listening to her story
which touched my heart and the deepest most human places of my soul
and i held her and cried and felt her pain so deeply that i shared it.

I have allways had this ability and i know i am not the only person who can empathise with my fellow human beings this strongly.

maybe it was growing up in such a large and loving family that helped me become the person i am

it is also the people i meet every day that are doing what it takes to make someone else's life happy, comfortable or just plain bearable

the perfect soundtrack for this would be
